Description

Orange OB Peacock is an aquarium strain of a cichlid from Lake Malawi in eastern Africa.  It is an aquarium strain of uncertain origin. We acquired this strain from a commercial source in 2003. Males often reach 15cm (6 in.). Females are considerably smaller. Males are colorful with bright orange and yellow-pink bodies and fins with black mottling throughout. Males have bright blue squiggles on the face and gill plate. Females have a grey to yellowish background body coloration with clear to yellowish fins. Both the body and fins display blackish mottling. This fish’s ancestors hail from Lake Malawi in eastern Africa.
