Labeotropheus trewavasae ‘Blue Redtop’ is a mbuna cichlid from Lake Malawi in eastern Africa. Our strain is from a commercial source. We acquired the strain in 2003. Males often reach 15cm (6 in.). Females are somewhat smaller. Males are blue with faint vertical black bars and red dorsal fins. This variety has two types of females. Some females are gold sometimes with black mottling. Other females are blue-brown. Male juveniles are blue-gray and female juveniles are either gold or brown. This fish hails from Lake Malawi in eastern Africa.
