It was a warm day. As Susie and I walked from the house to the greenhouses I almost stepped on a coral snake (Micrurus fulvius tenere) crossing our path. After posing for a photograph, the snake quickly slithered into an old, rusty roll of field fencing to hide. Note the swelling near the tail; that is a meal that has almost completely moved through the alimentary tract.

Bare ground was free of snow because it still retained heat from the warm temperatures up until Thursday night. By noon all the snow was gone.
